Colorado Qui Tam Whistleblower Case
Example:
In April 2003, the Poudre Valley Health System agreed
to pay $2.9 million to settle a qui tam lawsuit alleged
that it falsely reported home healthcare costs and
double billed for physician therapy costs.
In April 1999, a federal jury awarded $1.4 million to the government in a Federal
qui tam lawsuit, filed in Colorado against Rockwell International Corp. The lawsuit
alleged that the company lied to the Department of Energy about its handling
of waste in order to collect payments and win a new contract to operate the plant.
Under the provisions of the Federal False Claims Act, the damages were to be
trebled to $4.2 million. |
