Georgia Qui Tam Whistleblower Case
Examples:
In May 2001, Northeast Georgia Health System agreed to pay $6.4 million to settle
a Federal qui tam lawsuit filed in Georgia, that alleged that the company submitted
claims to Medicare and Medicaid for services rendered to patients that did not
meet home health eligibility requirements.
In March 2006, the DOJ announced that Matria Healthcare, Inc. agreed to pay $9 million to resolve allegations of Medicare fraud involving Matria and Diabetes Self Care, Inc. engaging in a scheme to send self-care diabetes products to customers who did not need them or were already dead, then failed to reimburse Medicare when the products were returned. |
