In January 2001, Ispat-Inland and Contech Construction agreed settled two Federal qui tam lawsuits for $30 million. The lawsuits, filed in Louisiana, alleged the companies falsely certified compliance with road construction contract specifications with the State of Louisiana and the federal government.

In April 2000, the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors agreed to pay the government $1.5 million to settle a Federal qui tam lawsuit filed in Louisiana, that alleged the University's Health Sciences Center submitted false claims to Medicare and Medicaid for anesthesia services.
