Ohio Qui Tam Whistleblower Case Example:
In September, 2002, Lockheed Martin Corporation and General Electric Company agreed to pay the government $6.2 million to settle allegations that they produced and sold flight control electronics sets that contained defective parts.
 

An armoring company named O’Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt agreed to pay $1.1 million in October, 2000 to settle a Federal qui tam lawsuit filed in Ohio, alleging that the company’s subcontractors provided non-conforming vehicle shells to the U.S. Army.

In August 2000, The Boeing Company and its subcontractors agreed to pay $61.5 million to settle a two Federal qui tam lawsuits filed in Ohio, that alleged the company knowingly installed defective gears in hundreds of the Army’s helicopters.


The purpose of the Qui tam provisions of the Federal False Claims Act is to encourage private individuals who are aware of fraud being perpetrated against the government to bring such information forward.
