Fourteenth Annual Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund (TAFEF) Conference, September 15-17, 2014

Partners Marcella Auerbach and Jeb White presented at the Fourteenth Annual Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund (TAFEF) Conference in Washington, D.C. Mr. White presented during the opening day session of the conference, during a panel session titled, “Best Practices for Effectively Working with the Government.” The panel was moderated by qui tam attorney Neil Getnick, and Mr. White was joined on the panel by four government attorneys, including the United States Attorney for South Carolina William Nettles, New York Attorney General Senior Advisor Greg Krakower, California Deputy Attorney General Nicholas Paul, and U.S. Department of Justice’s Commercial Litigation Branch Senior Trial Attorney Colin Huntley. Managing Partner Marcella Auerbach moderated a panel discussion on parallel civil-criminal investigations and prosecutions. ABA National Institute on the Civil False Claims Act & Qui Tam Enforcement, June 2014

Partner Jeb White was the Co-Chairman of the 10th ABA National Institute on the Civil False Claims Act & Qui Tam Enforcement, which was held June 4-6, 2014, in Washington, D.C. In addition, Mr. White opened the conference with a panel discussion entitled, “Fundamentals of the Civil False Claims Act and Qui Tam Enforcement.” Mr. White was joined on the panel by Institute Co-Chairs U.S. Department of Justice Deputy Director Daniel Anderson and respected False Claims Act defense attorney John T. Nolan Auerbach & White Partner Jeb White presented at the 13th Annual Pharmaceutical Regulatory & Compliance Congress, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, D.C. During the panel discussion of “leading qui tam counsel,” Mr. White discussed recent efforts to combat pharmaceutical fraud and outlined the pivotal role whistleblowers have played in False Claims Act recoveries against the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. The session was moderated by defense attorney Kirk Ogrosky, and Mr. White was joined by qui tam attorneys Michael Morse and Dan Miller. In addition, Mr. White served as the co-chairman of the national conference, along with co-chairmen U.S. Department of Justice Deputy Director Daniel Anderson and respected False Claims Act defense attorney John T. Boese. Eleventh Annual Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund (TAFEF) Conference, September 13, 2011 

Nolan Auerbach Partners Kenneth Nolan and Marcella Auerbach presented at the Eleventh Annual Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund (TAFEF) Conference in Washington, D.C. on September 13, 2011. The Annual TAFEF Conference is the country’s largest conference dedicated to qui tam enforcement. Mr. Nolan joined other leading qui tam and government attorneys during a panel discussion titled, “Emerging Issues of Healthcare Fraud.” Ms. Auerbach presented during a session titled, “An Overview of Multi-Relator and Co-Counsel Arrangements.”

Attorneys Kenneth Nolan and Marcella Auerbach were also awarded the prestigious “Lawyers of the Year” Award during the 2011 Taxpayers Against Fraud Awards Dinner. They each delivered acceptance speeches to an audience of more than 300 leading government and qui tam attorneys from across the country. They were recognized for contributing to the recovery of over $1.3 billion for the Government.

Nolan Auerbach & White Founding Partner Kenneth Nolan conducted a live May 5, 2011, PharmaManufacturing.com webcast titled, “cGMP Compliance and Pharma Whistleblowing Cases.” Mr. Nolan educated a national audience about the cGMP regulations and sources of potential False Claims Act vulnerabilities for pharmaceutical manufacturers. Mr. Nolan has authored a book chapter on the subject, and is considered a leading expert on cGMP violations.

Nolan Auerbach & White Managing Partner Marcella Auerbach spoke at the University of Miami 2011 Law Review Symposium on Friday February 18, 2011. Ms. Auerbach discussed the topic of health care fraud during the opening panel discussion. She was joined in her healthcare fraud panel by David Hyman, Richard W. and Marie L. Corman Professor of Law at University of Illinois College of Law, Joan Krause, Professor of Law at University of North Carolina School of Law, and Eric Bustillo, former Assistant U.S. Attorney and current Regional Director of the Miami Office of the Securities & Exchange Commission. Panelists  spoke on a range of topics, from healthcare fraud to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, to the criminalization of corporate behavior. Other presenters included keynote speaker Robert S. Bennett, co-chair of White Collar at Hogan Lovells, Professor John Coates of Harvard Law, Professor Vic Khanna of Michigan Law, and Professor Jennifer Arlen of NYU Law.
